Daewoo Express, Pakistan’s leading inter-city transport service, plans to gradually introduce 200 Chinese-made electric buses over the next two years, making it the first EV-based inter-city bus service in Pakistan.

According to Gwadar Pro, the electric buses are expected to be rolled out during the summer of next year, with all 200 buses in operation by mid-2026.

The electric buses will run on short routes of a maximum distance of 225 km so that they do not have to stop during the journey for charging.

Daewoo Express General Manager Sheryar Hassan said that these 200 electric buses will run on 17 short routes including Hyderabad from Karachi. Electric buses will be operated on routes like Peshawar to Rawalpindi, Lahore to Faisalabad, Lahore to Sialkot etc.

Sheryar Hassan said that the upfront cost of electric buses is much higher than that of diesel buses.
