Currently, screen time i.e. mobile phone, computer use and television viewing time has increased tremendously. Children as well as adults spend a lot of time staring at cell phones, computers and television screens. In a recent research study, experts examined screen time and its effects on children’s mental health.

There have been several studies on the effects of excessive screen time in children and adolescents with mixed results. However, it is generally believed that increased screen time is affecting children’s ability to think and concentrate, but is this really the case?

In a recent study, a group of scientists reviewed several studies on children regarding screen time. They wanted to see how time spent using mobile phones and watching television affects children’s health.
Scientists initially reviewed 2,451 studies involving two million children and adolescents up to age 18. They subsequently selected 681 studies.

From a review of these studies, scientists concluded that the length of screen time does have effects on children’s mental health, but these effects are not long-lasting, and parents need not worry about them.

The scientists say that the results of their study show that the perception about the negative effects of screen time is not true. Prolonged use of mobile phones, computers, etc., and watching television have negative effects, but they are not severe, and these effects fade with time.
